Wildcats Split Non-Conference Double Header

HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College baseball team split their non-conference games with Cazenovia April 3. Hilbert improved to 5-14 and they dropped Cazenovia to 8-10.

In the early game, the Hawks got on the score board first after a  2 RBI hit in the bottom of the first inning. Cazenovia responded with three runs over the course of the next three innings giving them a 3-2 lead at the middle of the 4th. The Wildcats tallied a run in the 6th and then used a 3RBI home run by Jamie Barr (Frankfort, NY) in the 7th to grab back the lead, 7-4. Hilbert rallied in the bottom of the 7th, but with two outs the game ended with Cazenovia's center fielder making a routine catch in the outfield.

The night cap started as a scoreless game until the top of the 3rd when Adam Wiley (Marathon, NY) earned the Wildcats only RBI. Hilbert went two more innings without earning a run until the bottom of the 5th when they put three runs on the board and had five hits. After Hilbert took a 3-1 lead, they played solid defense the next two innings to end the game with a win.

Cazenovia will return to NEAC action on Friday when they host SUNY IT in a twin bill starting at 2:00pm.
