Men's Lacrosse Fends Off Upset Minded SUNY IT

Cazenovia, NY - The Cazenovia College men's lacrosse team fought off a second half surge to defeat SUNY IT by the final score of 16-9. The win evens the Wildcats record at 4-4, but more importantly they are now 3-0 in NEAC play. SUNY IT falls to 0-7 (0-2 NEAC).

Cazenovia cruised to a 9-2 halftime lead behind two goals a piece from Cory Tilton (Central Square, NY) and Jamil Modaffari (Penn Yan, NY). But SUNY IT came out in the second half inspired, outscoring the Wildcats 5-3 in the third quarter to make things interesting.

The Cazenovia defense served as the catalyst to get the Wildcats back on track thanks to the strong play of Zach Gerald (North Syracuse, NY) and Sean Ward (Truxton, NY). From that point on do it all midfielder TJ Shaw (Tully, NY) did whatever it took to carry the Wildcats to victory tallying four goals, three assists, 10 ground balls, and winning nine out of 14 face offs.

Dylan West (Hauppauge, NY) proved to be a spark for the Wildcats in the fourth quarter for Cazenovia scoring both of his goals, including a sensational acrobatic goal between his legs to bring everybody in attendance to their feet.

Tilton and Modaffari each finished with three goals on the day, while Pat Boyle (Syracuse, NY) collected the victory in goal with 11 saves.

Cazenovia plays again on Saturday when they travel to Penn State Abington for a 12:00pm contest.
