Christy Foster Recognized by the NCAA
Cazenovia, N.Y. - The Cazenovia College department of athletics is proud to announce that women's lacrosse player Christy Foster (Canton, N.Y.) is the 2011 NCAA Division III statistical champion for ground balls per game.
In addition to leading the nation with 5.9 ground balls per game, Foster put together an incredible season in 2011 as she was selected to the North Eastern Athletic Conference's women's lacrosse first team, but proved that her tenacious work ethic carries over into the class room as well by being recognized as a NEAC Scholar-Athlete. This honor goes to those student-athletes that achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or higher throughout the academic year.
The ground ball statistic in lacrosse represents grit, determination, and sacrifice. Foster has embodied all of those characteristics and more since she has joined the Wildcats women's lax program. Head coach Lauren Pacelli states, "Christy does it all for our team. It is obvious that she goes out to win every time regardless of who the opponent is. She is very deserving of this recognition and it validates all of the hard work she puts into being a great player. Her accomplishments, and actions, on and off the field serve as a model for all of the young women in our program now and in the future. I am very proud of all that she does."
