McIntyre Sets All-Time School Record at Hamilton College Invitational
Clinton, NY - Cazenovia College men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Hamilton College on October 12 to compete in the Hamilton College Invitational. Both teams competed against the University of Ottawa, Hamilton College, Utica College, St. John Fisher, Mansfield University, Hartwick College, Houghton University, SUNY-ESF, Ithaca College, Alfred, Mohawk Valley CC, and SUNYIT. The women's cross country team placed 10th out of 13 teams while the men's team did not qualify for the team rankings.
The women's cross country team was again led by freshman Shelby McIntrye (Ilion, NY) who set an all-time school record with a time of 19:06, good enough for a 16th place finish individually. The previous school record was set at 20:01 and had stood for several years.
Shelby wasn't the only women's cross country runner on display this weekend as nearly every Cazenovia participant set new personal or season bests. Shelby McIntyre, Emily Kotnik, and Taylor MacFarland set new personal best times while Kristen Nicolais, Ashlee Whitehouse, Jessica Goddard, Alexandra Miller, and Olivia Darou set new season bests.
Senior Kristen Nicolais (Mehopac, NY) was second amongst Wildcats finishing 55th individually with a time of 20:34. Freshman Emily Kotnik (Sagamore Hills, OH) finished with a time of 21:13, good for 74th overall. Senior Taylor MacFarland (Broadalbin, NY) and freshman Ashlee Whitehouse (Rollinsford, NH) rounded out the scoring for Cazenovia. MacFarland finished with a time of 22:17 (99th individually) while Whitehouse came in at 22:45 (110th individually). Jessica Goddard (New Hartford, NY) and Alexandra Miller (Tamaqua, PA) were other runners to compete for Cazenovia but did not factor in the team scoring. Goddard finished in 127th place with a time of 23:58. Miller came in at 24:07 and an 129th place finish. The final runner for Cazenovia was junior Olivia Darou (Canton, NY) who completed the invitational with a time of 24:44.
Although the men's cross country team did not factor in the overall team scoring, they did have four individuals compete in the Hamilton College Invitational. Junior Paul Roberts (Newfane, NY) led the men's team with a time of 32:54 and a 117th place finish. Freshman Justin Schmidt (Athens, NY) and junior Pat Ormsby (Rushville, NY) were next to finish for the Wildcats. Schmidt finished with a time of 33:31 (123rd overall) and Ormsby with a time of 38:07 (140th overall). Rounding out the Wildcats finishers was junior Matt Komondor (Lowville, NY) who completed the 8k event with a time of 38:55 (142nd overall).
The Cazenovia cross country teams will be back in action this weekend October 19, as they travel to William Smith College for the CCOC Championships.
